July 18 – God wants us to constantly renounce our sense of importance

In the eyes of the world, success, position, and influence measure our value. But in the eyes of God, something entirely different matters. He does not seek the “strong” – He seeks a humble heart that does not build its identity on merits, achievements, or “spiritual points.”
“God wants you to constantly renounce your sense of importance…”
This does not mean false humility or denying the good we do. It means not approaching God with full hands and a list of “accomplishments,” but like a beggar who has received everything—and knows that everything is owed to His love.
Father Wenanty Katarzyniec was precisely such a person. He could have been proud—he was talented, diligent, gifted with words, and earned the respect of his brothers. Yet he lived quietly. He did not seek significance. He did not build influence around himself.
One testimony recalls that he could listen to people for hours without interrupting, judging, or elevating himself with his knowledge. Because he knew that everything he had was a gift—and that his strength did not come from who he was, but from whom he trusted.
We, too, are called to stand before God like beggars. Not to diminish ourselves—but to recognize that He is the source of everything.
It is not our merits that make us holy, but our dependence on the One who loves unconditionally.
