July 27 – The most precious gift we have is now

"A good, virtuous person can only be formed slowly, and therefore one should not postpone the improvement of one’s life – for later there may not be enough time. Indeed, all of us – young or old, at whatever age we are – must begin to live well, immediately, now, not from tomorrow."
Father Wenanty Katarzyniec
These words of Blessed Wenanty Katarzyniec are like a gentle reminder that the most precious gift we have is now. How often do we wait for a “better moment,” postponing decisions, changes, and good resolutions because we think there will still be time later?
And yet, life unfolds in the present moment – in small gestures, in everyday choices, in what we do today. We do not need to wait for extraordinary circumstances to begin living more fully, closer to God, more consciously, and with a heart open to others. Every day, even the most ordinary, can be a step toward goodness.
Let us not be afraid to take the first steps – even if they are small, they lead us toward great changes. It is worth starting with simple gestures: forgiveness, kindness, prayer, or a moment of silence for God. It is in the everyday that our heart and character are truly shaped.
Perhaps today is exactly the best moment to begin?
