March 18 – Prayer Is a Weapon in Difficult Times

“Prayer is a weapon against great temptations and difficulties. Prayer works miracles. This happens when it is persevering and constant. And for this to be so, one must reflect continually and have a pure heart that loves Jesus.”
- Father Wenanty Katarzyniec
In moments of temptation and hardship, a person often looks for help everywhere - in oneself, in others, in solutions that give only temporary relief. Father Wenanty reminds us that the surest weapon is prayer. Not every prayer bears fruit immediately. Prayer becomes strength when it is persevering. When we return to God not only when it is easy, but especially when it is difficult. Perseverance in prayer purifies the heart. It teaches trust. It teaches patience. It teaches humility. Father Wenanty also points to something very important - prayer is not only words. It is born from the heart.
A heart that loves Jesus returns more easily to prayer, remains in it longer, and finds victory through it. That is why we need not only to ask, but also to reflect, to remain in silence, to remember God throughout the day. This makes prayer constant, and constant prayer becomes strength. And then miracles truly happen - first in the heart.
Reflection for today:
- In difficulties, do I turn to prayer first or only as a last resort?
- Is my prayer persevering, or only momentary?
- What can I do today to keep my heart more turned toward God?
